Care at your stage of change
You may be questioning substance use, looking to reduce harm, returning to treatment, or seeking support for ongoing recovery. Evaluation considers your current situation, medical risks, treatment history, medications, supports, and goals. Your plan reflects your needs and the level of care that is appropriate.
What the initial evaluation covers
Discuss substance-use history, current health concerns, previous treatments, medications, immediate safety considerations, and what you hope will change. You will receive an explanation of appropriate treatment options and next steps.
Medication management and follow-up
Evidence-based medication can be part of care when clinically appropriate. Follow-up evaluates response, side effects, progress, and changing needs. Specific medication options depend on the condition, patient age, medical history, and clinical assessment; an appointment does not guarantee a prescription.
Support beyond a prescription
Treatment planning may include coordination with therapists, recovery professionals, and treatment programs when clinically useful and authorized. When detoxification, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient care is appropriate, the practice can help coordinate the next step. Routine outpatient appointments are not a substitute for emergency treatment or medically supervised withdrawal care when needed.
Care for adolescents and families
Young people receive an assessment that considers development, family and school context, and existing treatment. Parent or guardian involvement and coordination with other clinicians are addressed as appropriate to the patient’s needs and applicable requirements.
